Have you ever seen a heavy truck towing an 18-wheeler trailer off the side of a hill? If not, here are some things you should know about heavy truck towing: heavy trucks tow, they pull, they move, and they carry heavier loads than you can imagine. The longer the distance you have to tow a load, the more powerful the truck is that you need. In addition, these long trips require more planning and preparation than shorter ones, since you have to make more space for the heavy truck towing equipment.
A few years ago, I helped to prepare a special delivery for a medical laboratory. When the tractor-trailer-towing equipment arrived, it was just as heavy as the equipment it was towing. The towing unit had been mounted on the tractor-trailer behind the cab of the truck. We had to rent a big, Class A highway vehicle to provide the towing service and get the heavy-duty tow truck up the ramp to our facility. After preparing the grounds and leveling the area, we erected a heavy-duty safety barrier along the length of the ramp to keep the load from rolling over on top of the vehicle carrying it. Because of the height of the load, the weight was concentrated in a small area, keeping the towing machine from impacting the cargo or the personnel.
We loaded two huge pallets of wood and plastic pellets into two medium-duty wrecker trucks. We stacked two on each side of the medium-duty tractor-trailer behind the cab, one pallet on each side of the towing unit. With the large bed of the medium-duty tow truck on top of the bed of the truck, the load was manageable, safe, and easy to handle. With the towing apparatus attached to the bed and the truck-mounted on the towing unit, there was no need to have the truck raise the rear end of the tractor-trailer during towing.
I contacted an experienced and knowledgeable auto accident lawyer to help me with my case. He contacted a local towing company that he knew dealt with timber hauling accidents and was able to get the towing company to contact the driver of the tractor-trailer and the owner of the dump truck. He arranged for both parties to meet with an accident towing expert to discuss the details of the accident. Having an accident towing expert look at the accident photographs gave me a better sense of what I could expect from the accident.
The next day, with my client's permission, I went to visit the truck driver and the dump truck owner. What I observed convinced me that there were several possible causes for the accident. Based on what I observed, I made several recommendations to avoid additional damage to the vehicles involved, as well as recommendations for towing. I recommended that the tow truck operator lower the load shift on the rear of the dump truck.
The accident cleanup and salvage yards paid much attention to what I had to say and the truck driver and owner agreed to my suggestions. After careful consideration and review of what occurred, the company issued a safety message for all their drivers not to drive with the towing unit attached. This issue and the advice I provided concerning this accident cleanup and salvage yard treatment were instrumental in minimizing unnecessary damage and losses.
Dodge Durango is one of the more successful models from the Dodge Ram line of trucks. It is also one of the most popular, which explains why it sees such high demand. The Dodge Ram uses a conventional eight-speed automatic transmission, but there is another form of transmission available on the vehicle - the Dodge Durango "Golf Cart" can be equipped with an upgrade called the Ram Sport Turbocharger. This conversion increases power by sixty-five percent over the standard engine. Here's what you need to know about this powerful little turbocharger.
How does a turbocharger work? This small, turbine-like device draws air into its combustion chamber, increasing pressure and flow. The air is replaced by gasoline, which is then re-evolved through a turbocharger manifold that feeds the combustion chamber with more air and generates even more power. This is the basic principle of a turbocharger. When properly installed and maintained, the engine of your vehicle will operate at maximum efficiency for a greater period of time.
So, how do you install a Dodge Ram battery cable if you want to upgrade to the Ram models? The first step is to locate the positive crank sensor and battery cable wiring. These are located in the firewall in the vehicle. Be sure to disconnect them before you begin any modifications. Do not install the cable unless you are confident with your connections and installation skills.
After removing the battery cable, locate the positive crank sensor and connect it to the negative accessory rail. Make sure you follow the instructions for your specific Dodge Ram model. When everything is connected and mounted, reattach the battery cable to the negative accessory rail. Once installed, you will see a noticeable increase in Ram performance. Be careful when driving and do not speed up whenever you notice the battery is low.
Now that your Ram car is running properly, you should take a look at the battery. If there are any cracks or corrosion, clean these areas with a mild dish detergent. You may also apply small pieces of the copper strips to prevent corrosion. If you find trouble using the lights on the Ram, it is very likely this will also affect the battery. If you suspect this has happened, have your car towed to a local Dodge dealer for repairs.
Finally, if you find yourself losing power when driving the car, have your battery cable replaced by a professional. You can save yourself quite a bit of money by doing this yourself. It is very important to know that replacing the battery cables, especially if you are unfamiliar with cars, will require a new battery, not just a replacement. It is a good idea to get an auto mechanic to install the battery cable so that it is done right. Do not attempt to replace the battery yourself.
